The most special of finds and a wonderful piece for a collector, this antique Georgian period necklace of graduated hand carved red Mediterranean Coral (Corallum Rubrum) beads is a rare find, this is the only piece of its type and quality that we've ever seen. Meticulously fashioned with a miniature precision, each of the little beads is prettily shaped in sympathy with the branch shape of the natural Coral and turned to the terminals, cut so the alternate beads cup each other. A necklace such as this would likely have been a souvenir from the Grand Tour when visiting Naples, the ancient centre of the Coral industry in Italy. 

The strand measures 16 inches, and fastens with a pineapple shaped bead clasp. We have had this necklace rethreaded.
