This whopper of a ring was a real find!  Steeped in sentimentality, this superb piece offers so much to the wearer!  

A UK size L 1/2, which is a US size 6, this substantial ring is crafted from 22ct Gold, and is marked as such on its band.  It features a central horse shoe (luck for the wearer) which houses a good sized blood red garnet at its centre.  On either side of the horse shoe are buckles, which, in Victorian times represented loyalty, fidelity, and strength. It also represented the joining of two people, so this might have been made as an unconventional engagement ring.

This ring, which i believe derived from the late 1800s weighs a healthy 6.43g and measures 1cm high at its centre. The thinnest part of the band, right at the back of the ring measures 4mm.
